- Where Is The Closest Casino To Akron Oh
There isn't a casino in Akron. But Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park, North Randall Jack Thistledown Racino, Cleveland Jack Casino & Hotel, Youngstown Hollywood Gaming Casino and Chester Mountaineer Casino Racetrack & Resort are really close.
Ohio's economy leaves nothing to chance.
Not so with its neighbors to the east.
A fourth race track and casino within two hours of Cleveland is in the works. Centaur Inc. has permission from the Pennsylvania Harness Racing Commission to build a mile-long harness track and casino called Valley View Downs on a 250-acre site in Lawrence County, just east of Youngstown.
The $428 million project is awaiting only final approval from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

Valley View Downs would join Presque Isle Downs & Casino in Erie, Pa., Mountaineer Casino Racetrack & Resort in Chester, Pa., and The Meadows Racetrack & Casino near Pittsburgh to create a phalanx of gaming on Ohio's eastern front.
As if the Ohio horse racing industry doesn't have enough to worry about. The new track will undoubtedly compete with Ohio harness tracks Northfield Park near Cleveland and Scioto Downs near Columbus, not to mention thoroughbred tracks Thistledown near Cleveland and Beulah Park near Columbus.
This is a list of casinos in Ohio.

History[edit]
Casinos were prohibited in Ohio before 2009, so gamblers instead visited casinos in Indiana, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Michigan where they were permitted. In November 2009, Ohio voters approved a measure that would allow for four casinos to be established in the state, one each in Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland and Toledo. The casinos were expected to generate $600 million in revenue, with fees collected there to be redistributed to school districts and local governments in the state. It passed by a vote of 53 to 47.[1]
